10 years of BAD: meet the winners

This year, the Bio Art & Design (BAD) Award celebrates its tenth anniversary. Specially for this unique edition, filmmaker Isolde Hallensleben, together with Wouter Sessink & Willem Sluyterman van Loo, interviewed the three winners of 2020 and one winner of each previous years; all are taking part in the group exhibition Evolutionaries.

7 March 2021

The three interviews with the winners have already been released via the Evolutionaries Vimeo channel. In the first months of 2021, a new interview will be launched weekly, in which Isolde introduces you to this talented group of artists, designers and researchers and their intriguing bio art and design projects.

We kick off 2021 with Jalila Essaïdi, who won a BAD Award in 2010 with the project ‘2.6g 329m/s’, also known as ‘Bulletproof Skin’. This year, her work ‘Double Edged’ is on show at MU.
