Want to know which three teams of artists & scientists will win this year’s Bio Art & Design Awards of 25.000 euro each? And do you also want to give your opinion on which of the other proposals deserves the first ever BAD Audience Award?

Make sure you come to MU Hybrid Art House on Friday June 9th at 2.30pm and witness all twelve art/science teams of this year give their pitches. A stream of urgent, inspiring, and creative artistic and design research pressure cooker ideas exploring the future. Each of them will have five minutes to convey their joint proposal and answer one pressing question from the audience.

New this year is the BAD Audience Award, for this the audience can vote. Voting is possible after the public pitches on the 9th of June or online until July 9th. This BAD Audience Award of 2500 Euro will be given to the most engaging of the nine proposals that does not win one of the big BAD awards.

The BAD Audience Award money is intended to engage the public with a lecture, workshop, essay or other expression to the essence of the proposal. This will then also be presented at some point during the upcoming BAD Award exhibition in MU which will open on Friday December 15th 2023 and runs until March 2024.

Just like last year the BAD Awards are made possible by a unique consortium of five partners from Brabant - BioArt Laboratories, Dutch Design Foundation, MU Hybrid Art House, Next Nature and The Master Institute of Visual Cultures (St Joost School of Art & Design). The twelve artists/designers have been selected out of 119 applications that came in through an international open call. The twelve scientists are all connected to renowned Dutch research institutes and universities and cover a wide range of expertise in the field of the life sciences and ecology.
